Supreme Court Confirmation Day 1

Image result for judge kavanaugh confirmation

The first day of the Supreme Court confirmation hearing in the United States Senate Committee was a 3 ring Circus. The day Started off with with Judge Kavanaugh getting introduced by 3 speakers. Next the judge gave his opening statement. After that the members of the Committee gave there opening statement. Each Member had 10 minutes to talk. First the chairman talked then the ranking member, next the vice chair. After that there was a rotation were first a Democrat will speak and then a Republican. The chairman is the leader of the committee, the vice chair was the leader of the majority party, and the ranking member was the leader of the minority party.

As soon as the chairman talked a Democratic member interrupted him about documents. In sort order the session turned into a screaming match. Members of one party started screaming at another party. Both sides started offering frivolous motions and disregarding Senate rules. Even the chair seemed biased and not following the rules of the Senate. If the Senate rules were followed then they were unfair and just pushed through by sere power of the majority. The other party responded by screaming back at them. Latter members of the public started interrupting the committee. Many of the public ended up being arrested for contempt of Congress.

The judges wife and kids had to be escorted out for there own safety. This looked like a Kangaroo court on both sides with neither conserved with justice. The majority seems like they want to bend and change the rules of evidence to push him through without controversy. They seem like they want to misuse the classification and confidentiality system to hid damaging documents from the minority and the public. The minority seems like they want to use intimidation to force the majority to change there mind.

Why cant the Senate have a fair hearing and vote on after a fair hearing? I know that the president only nominates judges who already has support of a majority of the senate but there is a reason for the hearings. After documents and testimony is heard the majority might change there mind. This has happened before for Presidential nominees have been rejected before even for the Supreme Court. Why cant the minority use common sense to convince the majority to change there minds like sometimes has happened in the past? Why are the documents still secret are they afraid that the documents if known will force them on either side to change there mind? I think that this whole broken process has become a joke.
