World Cup Day 2

In group A Uruguay beat Egypt in a close one nil match. Uruguay will face Saudi Arabia followed by host Russia in there next two matches. Saudi Arabia was weak in there first match and has little chance of advancing unless they win there next two matches. Uruguay needs to beat them because there next opponent is host Russia and it is always difficult to defeat a host team. If they win there next match all they need is a draw against Russia to be assured of advancing. If they lose to Russia the probably will still advance with a win in there next match. With the loss Egypt no longer controls its own destiny even with two wins. If they loss to Russia they will probably be going home. Even if they beat Russia they will still need to get points out of the Uruguay match.

In group B Iran beat Morocco in a very close one nil match and Portugal and Spain had an instant classic three-three draw. Morocco will play Portugal and Spain in there next two matches. They need to pull a stunning upset against one of those two teams and draw the other one and even then they need help for them to advance. There tournament will most likely be short. Iran is in the lead for now but they will play Portugal and Spain in there next two brutal matches. They will most likely need to either draw both matches or pull a stunning upset in one of the matches to have any hope of advancing. If they win one of the two matches and draw the other one they will advance for sure.

Spain and Portugal are still big favorites to advance even though they are tied for second. There next opponents will be Morocco and Iran. If they win there next two matches they are threw two the next round so both teams still control there destines. If they win a match and draw the other match they would still most likely advance. Two draws will most likely eliminate them and so would a shocking upset loss. Group B has just got more interesting.
